Friendship Kitchen

God's Helping Hands is a different organization from Friendship Kitchen.  While we come under the 501(c)3 of God's Helping Hands we are a subsidiary of them and do not answer to their board of directors.  We are governed by the team leaders of our member churches of which their are 12 members.  The Friendship Kitchen is housed in the Eufaula Methodist Church commercial kitchen and fellowship hall.  Each Saturday a different church has the meal.  The food comes from various places.

The Tulsa Food Bank has accepted us as a hot food provider and so they furnish food on an available basis.  We order this food on line and volunteers pick it up in McAlester, Oklahoma approximately 30 miles south of Eufaula Oklahoma in Pittsburg County.  Each church determines its menu and then prepares the food on site for that Saturday.  We try to provide a main entrée, vegetables, bread, drinks and dessert.

The Friendship Kitchen, through donations made by churches, businesses, and individual donors provide the plates, cutlery, cups, napkins and condiments.  There is a free will offering taken each Saturday which averages about $20 (US funds).  In addition, we have weekly give away items such as easy to prepare packaged food and personal care items (soap, shampoo, shaving cream, razors etc.)  The Friendship Kitchen has a food closet at the God's Helping Hands facility where we store food obtained from the food bank.  Each church team leader has keys to the facility so that they might get food on a first come, first served basis.

We have a permanent board seat on the God's helping Hands board which keeps that board up to date on numbers served and opportunities for further ministry.
